How QR Code Scanner works

QR Code Scanner draws your image onto a canvas and looks for a QR code with the open-source jsQR library (Apache-2.0), served from this site.

Limits

• Blurry, very small or heavily angled codes may not be found.
• Only one QR code per image is read.

Check it yourself

Open your browser's developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac), switch to the Network tab and use the tool. You'll only see this page and its scripts loading from toolsthatdontupload.com, and no request carrying your file. The page is also served with a Content-Security-Policy of connect-src 'none', which tells your browser to block any attempt by the page to send data.

After the page has loaded you can also switch off Wi-Fi; the tool keeps working because nothing it needs is fetched later.
