Get an API key and add it to your apps

A key gives you your own quota, unlocks network tools (fetch a URL, DNS, WHOIS, SSL) and the larger AI models. Compute, text, PDF and Korean tools also work without one.

1. Get the key

  1. Free key: open /api-keys/, enter your email and copy the key that appears (it looks like ttdu_free_…). It is shown once; we keep only a one-way hash, so store it in a password manager.
  2. Paid plan or credit pack (when sales open): choose a plan on /pricing/ and pay. You return to /api-keys/claim/, which shows a new key once. If you bought with an email that already has a key, that key is upgraded instead and you keep using it.
  3. Check it works:
    curl https://toolsthatdontupload.com/api/keys/usage -H "X-API-Key: ttdu_free_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
    You should see your plan, credits used and credits left.

2. Add it where you use it

WhereWhat to do
REST / curlSend it in the X-API-Key header on every call:
curl -X POST https://toolsthatdontupload.com/api/dns-lookup \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "X-API-Key: ttdu_free_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" \
  -d '{"domain":"example.com"}'
Python
import os, requests
r = requests.post("https://toolsthatdontupload.com/api/ai-summarize",
    headers={"X-API-Key": os.environ["TTDU_KEY"]},
    json={"text": "...", "quality": "high"})
print(r.json())
JavaScript
await fetch("https://toolsthatdontupload.com/api/whois", {
  method: "POST",
  headers: { "Content-Type": "application/json", "X-API-Key": process.env.TTDU_KEY },
  body: JSON.stringify({ domain: "example.com" })
});
Claude (claude.ai, Desktop)Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector → URL https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp. When a tool needs an account, Claude shows Connect; on our sign-in page, paste your key in the "existing API key" box and click Allow. Your connector then uses that key's plan.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http tools-that-dont-upload https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp --header "X-API-Key: ttdu_free_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
Cursor~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "tools-that-dont-upload": {
  "url": "https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp",
  "headers": { "X-API-Key": "ttdu_free_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" } } } }
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json:
{ "servers": { "tools-that-dont-upload": { "type": "http",
  "url": "https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp",
  "headers": { "X-API-Key": "${input:ttdu-key}" } } },
  "inputs": [{ "id": "ttdu-key", "type": "promptString", "password": true, "description": "TTDU API key" }] }
ChatGPT (Custom GPT Action)Actions → Import from URL https://toolsthatdontupload.com/openapi.json → Authentication: API Key, Auth type Custom, header name X-API-Key, paste the key.
n8n / Make / ZapierHTTP Request node → add header X-API-Key with the key (store it as a credential, not in plain text).

한국어 요약
