Connect the MCP server

Step-by-step: get an API key and add it to your app · AI upgrade (Llama 70B, Claude, ChatGPT)

Endpoint (Streamable HTTP): https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp

Tools: search_tools (find a tool), run_tool (run it with arguments), list_categories. No sign-in is needed for compute tools. Network tools (fetch a URL, DNS, WHOIS, SSL) need a free key sent as the X-API-Key header — create one here.

Claude (claude.ai / Claude Desktop)

  1. Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Name: Tools That Don't Upload. URL: https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp
  3. Save, then enable it in a chat from the tools menu.

Offline version (Claude Desktop)

A local bundle with 20 tools (Korean tools, 견적서/거래명세서/차용증/근로계약서 generation, PDF merge/extract/rotate/info on local files, hash, Base64, UUID, JSON, text case, passwords) runs entirely on your computer and makes no network requests. Download tools-that-dont-upload-local.mcpb, then in Claude Desktop open Settings → Extensions → Advanced settings → Install Extension. Source: GitHub.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http tools-that-dont-upload https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp
# with a key (network tools):
claude mcp add --transport http tools-that-dont-upload https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp --header "X-API-Key: ttdu_free_..."

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tools-that-dont-upload": {
      "url": "https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "X-API-Key": "ttdu_free_..." }
    }
  }
}

The headers block is optional.

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

{
  "servers": {
    "tools-that-dont-upload": { "type": "http", "url": "https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp" }
  }
}

ChatGPT

In ChatGPT developer mode, add a connector with the same URL. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan.

Plain HTTP

curl -s https://toolsthatdontupload.com/mcp -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"search_tools","arguments":{"query":"sha256"}}}'

Sign-in (optional)

Compute tools work without signing in. When a tool needs an account (network tools) or the shared anonymous limit is reached, the server answers with an OAuth 2.1 challenge and Claude shows a "Connect" prompt. Signing in needs no email or password: you click Allow and get your own quota. You can also paste an existing API key on that page to use its plan. Metadata: /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource, /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server.

Files

PDF tools (pdf_merge, pdf_split, pdf_rotate, pdf_watermark, pdf_metadata, pdf_extract) accept file_base64 (or files_base64: [..] for merge), up to 10 MB. PDF results come back as file_base64.

Korean tools

ko_romanize, ko_amount_words (일금 …원정), ko_josa, ko_chosung, kr_business_number, ko_pii_mask.

Document generation: kr_quote (견적서, XLSX), kr_transaction_statement (거래명세서, XLSX), kr_loan_agreement (차용증, DOCX), kr_employment_contract (표준근로계약서, DOCX). Files come back as file_base64. These are general templates, not legal advice.

Egress receipts

Every result carries _meta["com.toolsthatdontupload/egress"] (REST: X-Egress header) listing external hosts contacted — none for most tools.

API keys

Keys are shown once and stored only as a one-way hash. Check usage: GET /api/keys/usage. Revoke: POST /api/keys/revoke with the key in X-API-Key.

Limits and privacy

Anonymous: compute tools under fair use; file 20 calls/day; AI 10 calls/day per IP. Note that hosted AI clients may share IP addresses, so anonymous daily limits can run out sooner — a free key avoids that. Data handling: Privacy Policy. REST reference: /openapi.json, /llms-full.txt.
